Objective  

The objective of this assessment is to evaluate students’ understanding and ability to analyze the impact of cultural factors on essential HRM functions as well as  analyzing organizational issues from a global perspective using relevant contexts and theories from 21-century perspective. In addition, this investigation will be linked to the context of the UAE, as the government of Abu Dhabi, took the commitment as part of its economic vision 2030 to focus on four key priorities and one of them is Social and Human Resources Development. Thus, the initiative emphasizes on mismatch skills and knowledge between education and labor market demand amongst Emirati. The cultural context of the UAE has significant implications on essential HRM functions, and IHRM practitioners need to be sensitive to cultural differences and adapt their practices accordingly.

Report Format  

The individual report should not be less than 2500 words or more than 3000 words, double spaced, excluding the cover page, table of contents, and reference list. A minimum of 6 journal articles ranging from 2017 to 2024 should be listed as references in individual report conforming APA format.

The submission must use the cover page provided.

Each student must choose one topic from the below list.

Students should submit papers to Turnitin Assignments via Blackboard with identifying information included in the paper (e.g., name or student number), the system will automatically show this information to faculty when viewing the submission, but the information will not be retained by Turnitin. The threshold applied to the similarity index is less than 20%.

  2. Each student must choose one topic from the list of below Culture dimensions.

  7. Gender Egalitarianism
  8. Assertiveness
  9. Performance Orientation
  10. Humane Orientation
  11. In your paper, you will analyse impact of the selected cultural dimension on essential HRM functions. (HR planning, staffing, recruitment, performance management, training and development, talent management, compensation and benefits.
  12. The paper should not be less than 2500 words or more than 3000 words in double spacing, 12-point font size, and Arial or Times New Roman font type, excluding the cover page, table of contents and reference list.
  13. A minimum of 6 journal articles ranged from 2017 and 2024 should be listed as references in your report.
  14. Use the cover page provided for report submission.
  15. These assignments are formal APA papers, so it is necessary to cite, quote and reference ideas that you have used to build your post.   • Explain why the challenges/ problems / issues being studied from the article/case study are important to be addressed.

  • Apply suitable theory and develop appropriate solutions to particular cultural context of IHRM
    1. CLO3: Critical analysis (20%)
  • Analyse the implication from your critical perspective and relate it to 21-century IHRM practices and perspective
    1. CLO3: Recommendations (30%)
  • Examine and recommend implications relevant to the UAE: market, policy, strategies etc relevant to the UAE economic vision 2030 to focus on four key priorities and one of them is Social and Human Resources Development.
    1. CLO3: Overall writing and structure (15%)
  • Structure and organization: Follow basic rules of a 5-paragraph essay (although there may be more paragraphs) – clear report in the introduction, recap of main points and in conclusion.
  • Citations and reference: When you use someone words exactly quote and cite. When you paraphrase someone’s ideas; cite. In both cases provide references.
