ASSESSMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
In this assessment, students are tasked with conducting an individual presentation project that explores their role as a Business Continuity Manager.
The project aims to develop research acumen, foster understanding of business impact analysis, risk and impact for an organization in the United Arab Emirates.
Deadline: The presentation slide is to be submitted via Moodle Turnitin Assignment Submission System by 9 April 2025 by 11:59 pm. Oral Presentation in class on 10 April 2025.
Word limit: 9-10 PPT slides, excluding first and last slides.
Format: Your assignment MUST be in MS PowerPoint.
References: Citation in the text and the Reference list that includes the sources for all materials cited in this assignment. This list must follow the APA style referencing, and you should have carefully proofread it to make certain that the style is followed consistently.
Question: In the BCM201 course, we have covered various lectures so far as applying the NCEMA 7000 standards to build an organization BCM Program and assessing its risks. In this project, your role is the Business Continuity Manager for the assigned organization and you will assess impact and risk.
PRESENTATION SKILLS (Weighting 30%).
- Please see the rubric for 12 presentation components which includes APA style citation – 30 marks.
BUSINESS IMPACT ANALYSIS (Weighting 35%)
- Using 2-3 slides describe five (5) different activities of the organization (2 marks each) AND specify them as main or support activities – 10 marks.
- Based on your understanding of the critical services/products of the organization, summarize the prioritization of three (3) services/products (5 marks each) with sufficient justification for their importance. Use 2-3 slides to justify your selection – 15 marks.
- Using 1-2 slides determine two (2) external dependencies (1 mark each) for the organization AND three (3) internal dependencies (1 mark each) for any 3 prioritized activities of your choosing from Question #1 – 10 marks.
RISK ANALYSIS (Weighting 25%)
- Using 1-2 slides, identify three (3) possible risks (5 marks each) that might impact the prioritized activities in your organization. Provide a sufficient description of each risk in relation to how it might impact the prioritized activity – 15 marks.
- DO NOT USE EARTHQUAKE
- You will NOT receive full marks for generic answers such as “technology risk” or “severe weather.”
- In 1-2 slides, detail the way that one (1) natural risk (5 marks) and one (1) human-induced risk (5 marks) has impacted a prioritized activity in another organization from the same sector/industry as your assigned organization – 10 marks.
IMPACT STUDY (Weighting 10%)
- Based on your analysis, use 1-2 slides to describe a risk treatment option for any 2 (5 marks each) out of the 3 risks you identified in Question #5. You are required to use different risk treatment options – 10 marks.
Your presentation will be marked based on the Grading Rubric posted on Moodle.
