Midterm Brief
Compare and contrast two specific competing companies from the same industry and outline their different mission and visions, their impact on strategies
and how do these companies address external threats and opportunities.
Group Work (3 students per team max).
• Assess their mission and vision. How clear are they and how helpful to determine their strategic direction. Analyze the similarities and differences in
details of both and accordingly analyze the implications of that on their strategy. Make sure you have the right vision and mission from credible
sources, otherwise develop those from credible sources.
• Assess also their values and do analyze critically whether they live by those value or not. Demonstrate using examples.
• Outline different trends from the external environment and explain how each company is uniquely addressing the different opportunities or threats
from the environment. Compare and contrast. No less than 3 trends and how each of these two companies are addressing it.
Individual Report
Choose a company from the above and provide your recommendation with regards to how you would go about rewriting their mission, vision and values
based on what has been discussed in the presentation. If you agree with part of it, provide your rationale. Demonstrate the importance of being a company
with a clearer DNA, clearer strategic direction, and more authentic values and explain that within the context of your company.
Formalities
• Total weight is 40% (with 40% going for presentation and 60% going for individual report).
• 20 slides presentation and 2000 words document.
• Every statement and observations need to be properly referenced.
• References needs to be credible; you might be asked during your presentation about the references, be ready.
• PDF for both to be submitted on Turnitin, Moodle on the eve of the midterm session.
• Use of AI needs to be documented.
Weight: 40% weight.
