Individual Program/Policy Proposal Paper
Purpose
This week you are to write a 3 or 4 page paper detailing what kind of program you would champion/create to assist the justice impacted community group of their choosing (examples include gang involved youth, women in prison, the mentally ill, immigrants, etc.). This assignment will challenge you to think about the issues faced by a particular people group, and come up with a programmatic solution to those issues. Knowing the issues are only half the battle; finding ways to address and help in solution the issues is the real work!

Assignment
Each student will turn in a 3-4 page program proposal paper detailing what kind of program the student would champion/create to assist the justice impacted community group of their choosing (examples include gang involved youth, women in prison, the mentally ill, immigrants, etc.) Each student will turn in their own paper during week 15, and each student should work on their paper independently. The paper will consist of 25 out of the 50 total points.
Rubric: Each paper will be graded on the below key elements as well as the critical thinking and advocacy skills demonstrated. Each student’s paper should address the following questions:
1. What justice impacted community group is the student aiming to help? Please provide a description. 2. What factors does the justice impacted community group deal with? Please detail the barriers they face? 3. What program is the student proposing that could help the justice impacted community group? 4. What did it feel like to think about the experiences of the justice impacted community group? What thoughts went through your mind? 5. What scholarly papers did the student use in creating a program to assist the justice impacted community?
Special Notes:
Due to the nature of this course and COVID-19 this assignment is NOT a group assignment, but will be individually graded.
