[Answered] Movie Review

Movie Review

I would encourage you to select a movie that you have not already seen.  The objective of this assignment is to see how we use history to entertain, and whether or not entertainers stay true to history.

If you are having trouble finding a movie that meets the above criteria, try searching the IMDB.com web site.  It contains almost all of the movies ever produced in the world.  It will also be a big help completing some of the sections of your review.  I would recommend searching your text books for a topic or person that interests you, then searching the web for that name, location, or event.

Movie Review Requirements

  1. Movie Requirements
  1. The movie must be at least ninety minutes in length.
  2. It must not be a documentary, television series, or mini series.
  3. It must discuss or examine the time period before 1500.
  4. It must be about a person, event, or topic of Western Civilization; Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
  1. The review must be between six to seven pages in length (not counting the title page), double-spaced (about 22 lines per page), margins no more than one inch, and using Times New Roman 12 point font.
  2. The title page needs to have the following information:
  1. Class Name
  2. Your Name
  3. The Date
  4. The Movie’s Title and MPAA Rating
  1. People Section – Includes, but is not limited to:
  1. Actors/characters
  2. Screen Writer/Author
  3. Director/Producers
  1. Give a summary of the movie – General plot lines, characters, etc.
  2. Historical Significance Section
  1. Did the movie relate real events?
  2. How accurate were the events portrayed?
  3. Why were the events in the movie important to people at the time?
  4. What were the impacts of the events? (future society, politics, government, civilization, etc.)
  1. Evaluation Section
  1. Why did you enjoy, or not, the movie? Give examples.
  2. Did you learn anything from the movie? Give examples.
  3. Did you see anything in the movie that is historically inaccurate? Give examples.
  4. Would you recommend this movie to a fellow student? Why?

  1. Bibliography
  1. Use at least two sources.  You can use the class text books, but they don’t count toward the two required sources.
  2. Use a correct bibliography or works cited page format
  3. Use a correct citation style.

  1. Scoring will be as follows:

Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 10 points each for 60 points

Sections 6 and 7 20 points each for 40 points

The Historical Significance and Evaluation sections are the MOST important sections to me.  You will need to do some research on the time frame and topic to be able to complete these two sections.  Do not spend too much space on the summary.  I will have seen most of the movies that you will review, focus on the other parts of the review.
