**DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO COMPLETE A FOLLOW UP PRESENTATION**

My civic engagement project was by getting involved with the nonprofit, A Little Help, and then realizing that because I could not get enough service learning hours in, I decided to help the organization in it’s visibility and marketing. I deciced to man the booth to find volunteers, seniors in need of help, and fundraising. The mentor that trained me advised me that the organization’s biggest issue was people not knowing what the nonprofit did, and that she thought taking an ad in the local Berthoud paper would help. I contacted the Berthoud Weekly Surveyor about doing a story on the organization and what they provide, and they got back to me three weeks later notifying me that they covered the nonprofit last Spring. I also contacted the Denver Post who is yet to get back to me. I used the two paper’s websites to submit my idea for story and what the nonprofit’s mission is, and also called them and left a voicemessage. I also conducted 10 hours of community service, 4 hours at the Berthoud Farmer’s Market, 2 hours taking Priscilla Lovato to church, 2 hours taking Nina Kaufman to her doctors appointment, and 3 hours taking Linda Maltezos to her doctor’s appointment as well.

Solution

My project plan is motivated by my interaction with seniors in my family. I have observed the problems faced by senior citizens through my grandmother and other seniors. The spectrum of challenges ranges from health-related issues to financial constraints. Health-related issues facing senior citizens are associated with senility, and they tend to be chronic. An example is osteoarthritis,  a form of arthritis and the most common cause of pain and lameness for the aged (Loeser, 2017).
