  1. “The main assumptions (or ideas) about morality of Utilitarianism are wrong.”  How would a Natural Law theorist, Rawls, and Jaggar respond to this statement?  List at least three assumptions/ideas important to Utilitarians.

Utilitarianism refers to a set of principles that advocate for activities that build up happiness and welfare for all individuals.   While there are many different interpretations of utilitarianism, the central premise is to maximize utility, which is usually expressed in terms of well-being or similar concepts. Utilitarianism is a type of virtue ethics, which believes that the only criterion for right and wrong is one’s acts’ repercussions (Scanlon, Sen & Williams, 2019). Unlike many other forms of determinism, such as individualism and altruism, utilitarianism takes into account all human interests on an equal footing. Perhaps the most significant flaunt in utilitarianism is that it fails to appreciate issues of equality.
